The column "My Lofty Life" was based on deeply daft encounters in Shoreditch – or ‘Hoxton’, as we have to call it now – when art, design, and dazed and confused behaviour reigned. So what’s changed, you might ask? Well, back then the only shops sold handbags and shoes. Great for weddings, but useless when you want a banana.
Now a plethora of bars, cafes, Vietnamese restaurants, and ‘organic’ - ie expensive – grocery stores have sprung up. And the prices of the ‘Lofts’ have trebled. (Hum, but maybe not for long, says my spy @ Nationwide…). Whatever - it’s always been the perfect place for a nervous breakdown…

On the way (though she's not junk, honestly)…
…she trips, bangs her head, gets concussed and has a brilliant revelation. "Serial Killers: The Musical." It's the best idea she's had in ages.
Writers' block is over! - all her dreams have come true and she staggers off home to start work at once on it.
